Media personalities building their careers stand in the way of what we need to know.

Though I have to admit that I hesitated before doing it. But then we do know that it's important for anyone to talk about a harrowing experience rather than repressing it, yet if it was my child I'd probably choose a psychologist rather than a national news crew.

I was just struck by how often reporters put themselves on cameras and make themselves the story.

I have personally known television reporters who deliberately do this in order to develop their image. It is a technique to promote oneself and gain a following, and promote a career. (It is also what the worst politicians do, such as Cruz). I feel as though I often learn less and know less than I would if I avoided tuning in.

I don’t want to let myself forget this event or diminish it in any way because I want to be an active part of the solution. For me, watching this little girl’s account will help me do so. I am grateful you posted.
