reducing production of single-use plastics rather than on cleaning up the existing garbage patches.

(22,112 posts)3. And I'm hearing that this supposedly indestructible plastic that lasts forever, doesn't, in fact,
last forever. My fear is that perhaps some sort of ocean life will end up loving plastic and thus, start consuming all sorts of plastics, thus putting our/the world's use of plastics at risk. That's always been my fear, that in some ways, mankind and our habits are leading way to new forms of life that may devour substances that we didn't intend to be consumed.
However, I suspect that by the time we realize this, it'll be too late.
