(21,264 posts)Tribe said the Georgia case is the easier to prove.
Merrick Garland was Tribe's student. Tribe said he knows Garland very well, he said he has no doubt that Merrick Garland will come to the conclusion that there is enough evidence to indict Trump beyond a reasonable doubt.
However, Tribe went on to say that Garland has a monumental decision to make, whether or not to indict Trump. Garland has to decide if indicting Trump would be worse for our country than not indicting.

And as the evidence piles up - most of which we saw on live TV - it's extremely frustrating that they're still vacillating over whether to indict TFG for his numerous crimes against this country. Meanwhile, he's free to rile up his deluded supporters and the list of TFG's crimes grows. Whatever happened with the classified documents he stole that were found in unsecured boxes in his possession? We never heard followup on that...

(111,173 posts)No one wants to set the precedent of an incomeing administration prosecuting the outgoing administration. We protect presidents by and large because they often have to make such terribly difficult decisions in office and sometimes those decisions are proven to be wrong, getting people killed and damaging the country, even though they were made in good faith.
This is a special case, this is the first president who has tried to overthrow the government to stay in office. If I were a gambler, I'd bet Garland would err on the side of caution and issue a sealed indictment of TFG, such indictment to drop if he ever runs for public office or is appointed to high public office ever again.
I see Garland as willing to pick off TFG's inner circle and Congressional supporters one by one, isolating him. I can't see Garland indicting him during this term for treason, waging war against the US government.
Maybe next term but not this one.
