Lawrence O'Donnell: Why Did It Take So Long For Pence To Do The Right Thing? - The Last Word - MSNBC

After stunning testimony in the third hearing by the January 6th Select Committee revealed that even the people pushing the plan for the Vice President to overturn the results of the election knew it was illegal, MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell questions why Mike Pence waited until the day of the Capitol riot to publicly shoot down the plan. Aired on 06/16/2022.

Pence is a craven fraud. He failed to act sooner because he didn’t know what was best for himself. It took Judge Luttig and Dan Quayle to tell him what to do. Doing the right thing didn’t come from some moral code deep in him. Pence has always been full of shit.

We hear from Kamala Harris all the time. Can you remember anything memorable that Pence ever said? Even in the VP debate with Kamala Harris (and the fly), nothing he said came from him, everything was a quote from TFG!

It gave Manafort more power. Pence is not a top level Republican for president.

Those we heard from were those who observed what went on - or were called on for legal opinions at the time.

Was he that cowed, all this time?

Reluctant to speak up and make waves?

Maybe he had a notion of what would happen when he risked doing the right thing? Was he concerned that he needed to hang on and not piss trump off, so trump wouldn't give him the heave-ho and bring in a rubber stamper who'd obey without even blinking?

But on top of everything else he’s a coward.

People are praising him but deep down he may be kicking himself for not helping Trump. Imagining the even greater prestige and power awaiting him. He’d have done a major part in ushering in the new Republic of Giliad. Even if not VP anymore I’m sure he salivates at what his reward would have been if it had worked. Minister of Truth to establish his version of Christianity as the only legal religion allowed?

Either way, I think he hates having to be praised by Cheney and the Democrats as a key piece in thwarting the Trump Party’s plans, and getting all the hate mail from the MAGAts. And to think he almost had it in him but was too worried it wouldn’t have worked and he’d get in trouble

THAT’S what he’s thinking, not that all this praise confirms he did the “right” thing

He was totally hedging his bets. Cowards who hide behind distorted interpretations of the bible never do the right thing for the right reasons. At least we can likely be satisfied with the thought that he probably believes he's going to hell for his failure to install their theocracy at the top levels of government.

Hoping to gain support from the deluded MAGA voters who undoubtedly have rejected him for his failure to carry out TFG's "plan" not to concede! Not to mention, he publicly stated "TFG was wrong!"

She wouldn't concede until after the 14th - electoral college convened. Despite pointing out the race being over, Biden having made his acceptance speech, and substantiated by the courts, she would not concede the loss. Then after the 6th she pivoted to abortion and child molestation.

and with Lawrence. Pence is a pussy and a coward. He could have warned us about the coup plot but he chose to protect his own personal political ambitions, making him a PUSSY! He is a coward, a traitor and not a patriot. He is just another asshole GQP power hungry traitor like all the rest of them. Political ambition and power is chosen over protecting our fading democracy. Fuck him !!!!!!!!!
