I can't help but suspect he might have tried, anyway. calimary Jun 2022 #3
I think you're right. He had no idea what he could and couldn't do - and didn't care Rhiannon12866 Jun 2022 #5

But as historian Michael Bescheloss cautioned, while on with Lawrence O'Donnell tonight, "Please do not canonize Mike Pence." Point well-taken. But would trump have fired him and slot a toady in there who'd do whatever donald demanded?

I hope whoever winds up interviewing Pence asks him that.

If TFG had forced Pence to resign to get what he wanted, he would have still needed both houses of Congress to approve whoever he nominated to replace his VP. The Ds never would have agreed to such a thing. Not at that late date.

Maybe if the traitorous fat pile of dog vomit had tried replacing his VP with someone more compliant and unAmerican even a year earlier, it could have worked. But not after becoming a lame duck.

How many did he replace over his time in office, often for being "disloyal?" I remember that Rachel Maddow had a chart of all those who had "left," and it covered all her walls. He figured that he was "the boss" and no one could tell him what to do...
