Sri Lanka shuts down schools, government services to preserve fuel - Al Jazeera
Sri Lanka has closed schools and shut down non-essential government services for two weeks to preserve fuel supplies. It comes on the same day the government sits down for bailout talks with the International Monetary Fund.
The country is facing its worse economic crisis since the country gained independence in 1948. A shortage of goods and rising petrol prices are escalating the situation.
Al Jazeera's Minelle Fernandez reports from Colombo.
