Trump Criminal Charges? Majority Of Americans Say He Should Be Indicted And Not Just Democrats

After evidence presented by the Jan. 6 committee during its public hearings showed Donald Trump knew he lost the election and still tried to steal it, nearly 60 percent of Americans believe Trump should be criminally charged, according to an ABC News/Ipsos poll. In a major shift, the number of Republicans who think Trump is criminally liable has roughly doubled from April to June.

Now, Trump is saying Kevin McCarthy was “foolish” to largely cancel the GOP out of the hearings. MSNBC’s Ari Melber is joined by former Watergate prosecutor Jill Wine-Banks to discuss the evidence against Trump. - The Beat - MSNBC - Aired on 06/20/2022.

Indicting ANY repub, and so many need to be, who was in office on Jan 6 or is now, and NOT getting a unanimous verdict, is what is going to be the problem and why it wont happen.

Where could you find 12 jurors and not have a disgusting RUMP sycophant?

I say do it anyway, cuz the GOP is going to end our democracy either way, but I can see why the reluctance.

The very best outcome is we dont lose our democracy, and no matter what has to happen for that to be the case, is what has to happen.

If that means no indictments, so be it. I dont see that working, though. When half the country openly admits they do NOT care about democracy, the rule of law and they do want their outcome NO MATTER WHAT, you got a BIG FUCKING PROBLEM!

2. I know, we had the best chance in the impeachment hearings

The impeachment managers presented a convincing and air tight case. But the Republicans, en masse, rejected the evidence - it didn't matter what was said, they ignored the proceedings and the outcome was already a done deal.

3. Impeachment was never going to succeed.

It wasn't the "best chance" because there was no chance. The GOP was never going to sign on.

At least with the DOJ, there's the possibility of prosecution. It is, by default, a better chance than impeachment was ever going to be.

5. Good point, but the Republicans didn't just ignore the overwhelming evidence

They'd made up their collective mind before it was even presented. If a non partisan jury had been voting, he would have been found guilty by the vast majority and removed from office - which would have removed the threat to our democracy which we're now experiencing. The DOJ needs to move forward ASAP.

4. We have to understand that the Republican Party now no longer cares if violence is necessary to end

7. What these TFG-supporting Republicans fail to realize is that by casting their lot with TFG

They are stuck with a one-person autocracy. As has been shown over and over, disagree with TFG once and you're out - their claim on elective office and their freedoms are in jeopardy, too.

6. If he isn't charged immediately after the J6 hearings nothing will happen.

When the hearings are finished the media will go on to inflation and Democrats losing Congress 24/7. Over a few weeks those numbers will reverse.
