If the prices are due to scarcity, the amount that was taxed will just go to the refiner instead.

Maybe Biden thinks it would demonstrate that he trying to do something, I don't think it will have the desired effect as the price point is being determined by supply and demand and not by the actual cost of gasoline.

by gas station in my town (KCMO suburb) and it was $4.46. Was on my way to dr. appointment when I saw it. The dr. office in different town (about seven miles away) and went by station there and it was $4.59. It’s coming down slowly around here-for now.

and they are only about a quarter-mile away from each other. The lowest price was $4.46 while it was $4.66 at the newer, cleaner station.
