The End of Roe. v. Wade

Andrew Sullivan and Katie Herzog join Bill Maher to discuss the culmination of the GOP's Supreme Court "long game."

Future Headlines: Summer 2022

Bill brings news from the future! Real Time returns with new episodes starting July 29th.

New Rule: I Want My Lawyer!

Voters want someone to fight for them – and if Democrats won't do it, they'll find new "representation."

Overtime: Andrew Sullivan, Katie Herzog, Christine Emba

Bill Maher and his guests – Andrew Sullivan, Christine Emba, and Katie Herzog – answer viewer questions after the show.

Here's a "bootleg" version of the show which includes the interview with Washington Post columnist Christine Emba (7:03), entire panel discussion with author Andrew Sullivan and podcaster Katie Herzog (17:55), and includes the opening part of New Rules (45:25). It won't last long, as usual:

Maher is a decent moderator but at times can be a poor interviewer ... Auggie Jun 2022 #4

Andrew Sullivan needs to GO! Why does Bill keep having guests like him? I have to mute his parts since he always puts down Dems and Biden and Hillary.

I'm hoping that we hear more from her. As for the others, I appreciate the humor, take what I want and leave the rest...

tonight, with Emba, for example. Instead of allowing the author to summarize her work he steered the conversation towards his own thoughts on technology, pornography, and the male sexual ego. He wasn't interviewing—he was opining.

From what I found on the web, Rethinking Sex is great examination of modern sex and human sociology, a point that Maher pretty much glossed over.

I didn't have the problem with Sullivan as most people might. Real Time has had a lot worse. I've been thinking the show was a tad stale for weeks and that Sullivan and Herzog brought in new energy.

Great comedy bits tonight: monologue, "funny bit," and News Rules. Bill's writers started their vacation on a high note.

My favorite line from New Rules: "The people in ads for burial insurance have to look a little less excited to be almost dead."

Thanks so much, Rhiannon12866. Watching your Real Time posts are an early Saturday morning ritual I always look forward to.

We didn't hear as much from her as we'd like - other than the photo of her book cover - Bill mainly focused the discussion on his opinions and concerns rather than what her book was about. And I would have thought it was relevant, especially last night, that she works for The Washington Post.

And I don't usually have a problem with Andrew Sullivan, either - he's friendly with Bill, has been one of his most frequent guests, so we know what he's about.

And, as I said above, I watch mainly for the humor, take what I want and leave the rest. I've watched long enough that not much surprises me and since his post-pandemic format, the RWers he used to like to argue with are now few and far between.

His "funny bit," the break in the panel discussion, is always welcome, and, like you, usually really like New Rules! Thanks so much for weighing in!
