(204,832 posts)However, Bill Clinton is the only POTUS I've ever seen in person - he came to this little burg in 2006 to campaign for Kirsten Gillibrand for Congress. He is one brilliant speaker - and it was standing room only to see a real president! And I credit his appearance for launching her career, she defeated a long-time Republican incumbent which the local paper once said "could have the job for life, if he wanted it!"

(57,073 posts)Isn't Gillibrand the one who insisted Franken resign? Sorry I might not be remembering correctly.

(204,832 posts)And she also has said that Bill Clinton should have resigned because of the Monica Lewinsky mess. Now that makes no sense to me, since that occurred quite a few years (1998) before she became involved with the Clintons and she ran for Congress for the first time in 2006. And she was involved with both Clintons, Hillary advised her to run in 2006 rather than 2004, which she did - and won. So she not only said that Senator Franken should step down - but also her ally, President Clinton, after the fact! The only explanation I can come up with is that she's been influenced by her investigations into the sexual harassment of women in the military. Needless to say, she and the Clintons are no longer on speaking terms.

(57,073 posts)Sounds like a very ungrateful person to me.
Maybe someone paid her to take that stance?
I don't know anything about her though.
It was really nice of the Clintons to mentor her & help get her elected though. They must have seen something good in her.

(204,832 posts)When President Obama chose my Senator Clinton as his Secretary of State, then-Governor Paterson appointed my congresswoman, Kirsten Gillibrand, as senator, she's now been elected on her own. And so we had a Special Election here in 2009 to replace her - and her hand chosen candidate was Scott Murphy - who lives right here in town, I pass his very large house most every day in my travels. I really liked him a lot, he was very smart and I worked on his campaigns - since campaign headquarters was just down the road from me. He won in 2009, but then lost in 2010 when he ran on his own - to a Republican. And now we have Elise Stefanik which couldn't be worse.

Better thsn a qpuke I guess.
I've not seen anything from her on the scotus roe decision.
Seems to me if she was so concerned about women's rights, she'd be all over this.
I think of her in the same light as tulsi, tbh.
