They're taking depositions; trying to determine what really happened on and before the insurrection. All the witnesses are under oath, and are expected to tell the truth as they knew it.
I see no need for cross examination when the are just bring forth factual information about what lead up to the insurrection, and what happened as it unfolded.
The House isn't judging guilt or innocence, but they can submit criminal referrals to the DOJ for further investigation and possible prosecution.
That's where a Grand Jury comes into play, and cross examination of witnesses can occur.

It wasn't a shakedown. it was a calm, reasoned, factual answer to the Fox cretin asking the questions. I guess that's redundant, isn't it.
