an attempt by the pope to help heal the pain of Native people. I see it as a PR move for the Catholic Church's image.

Words are cheap. Back them with funds to pay for counseling not just for the former students who survived, but for their children and grandchildren who suffer from parents and grandparents whose ability to nuture and care was destroyed by church abuses. Give funds also to Native language recovery and preservation programs.

And make them no strings attached funds, for Native people to spend on THEIR choice of counselors, not some religious counselors sent by the Catholic church.
