https://nativenewsonline.net/currents/christian-mission-ousted-from-pine-ridge-indian-reservation-after-distribution-of-hate-materialsOn Friday, July 22, the Oglala Sioux Tribe and its President, Kevin Killer, issued a statement demanding that the Jesus is King Mission leave the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation after pamphlets were distributed that promoted that Jesus, not Tunkasila (a Lakota word for Creator), is the true god.
This week the Jesus is King Missionary was found distributing material that literally demonizes the Lakota Culture and Faith, said the Oglala Sioux Tribe in a statement. This is unacceptable and completely disrespectful. It is the view of the President and Council that these pamphlets seek to promote Hate instead of Peace. Hate has no place on Oglala land.
The pamphlets also had statements asking what late American Indian Movement (AIM) activists and leaders Russell Means, Crow Dog, and Black Elk believed in. What did Russell Means, Crow Dog, and Black Elk believe? the pamphlet read.

(6,819 posts)I'm seeing the phrase, Jesus is King, on clothing or signs, more and more frequently. Sometimes it's Christ is King, but it's usually seen at a Trump rally or a Christian Nationalist gathering. The phrase isn't new, but it's being used in a new way, as emblematic of Christian Nationalism.
They want to create a monarchial political system, much like their Christian hierarchy: God>White Christian males>everybody else. As has always been the case, they obliterate indigenous culture and religion and try to subjugate the people. They didn't succeed this time without resistance. Kudos to the OST Tribal Council! Run 'em out and keep 'em out!

(114,507 posts)but they've driven a great deal of it underground, at least around here.
Funny, if there is one thing just the last 6000 years have taught us, it's that gods come and go, and there is nothing quite like the average right wing Christian to bury the current crop, but there's no guarantee the next one(s) will be any better.

(20,218 posts)Unless specifically asked by the majority of the Tribe. Looks like they've taken steps to keep these white nationalist "churches" from entering Tribal territory again. There's no way these "churches" are going to provide a financial statement to the OST Tribal Council. No way in hell do they want anyone to see how many "good works" they do with their money.

(23,395 posts)to a Oglala Sioux mission school in South Dakota, I did a search of them on the internet and discovered
how much money they were raking in and divided by the number of students they had at their mission,
they were collecting $256,000 per student that year and their mailings talked like they were broke.
Broke my ass, with that kind of money they could have given every student a new house, or at a
minimum a brand new Cadillac every year. Mom stopped donating.
Glad to see the Tribe standing up to the ChristoFascists. Wonder if MSM will report on this?
