Married to a cop for a few years. I survived and she lost her job. In our civil case she lied about some property. I paid to take a polygraph and passed it. She refused to take it, even though my lawyer and I offered to pay for it. Then the property, magically showed up in her possession. Her boss was not happy. Her boss gave his phone number, work and home and told me if I ever get pulled over in his jurisdiction, both her and the officer that pulled me over would be fired. I stood up for my rights and got the best lawyer, now a judge, and that alone saved me.
Always, Always report any wrong doing you see by the police to the boss. They know bad cops are bad for the department. If not they will learn.

a "pretextual stop". They pull you over for some innocuous BS as a pretext to dig deeper in order to hang a charge on you.
