and that is that wages have been allowed to fall too far, below subsistence for workers in traditionally low wage jobs like retail and food service. The minimum wage is being increased in many states, but the slave states are very slow to catch on. The Feds need to raise it immediately, with automatic indexed rises on top of it.

That's the main problem with anything the American people have gotten, it was never indexed to inflation.

In my little community we feed seniors using a payment from the feds of $3.80/meal. This hasn't significantly changed since the 1970s. Our meals generally cost $10-14 after factoring in rental, salaries, overhead. We rely on donations, begging, fundraisers, etc. But the Older Americans Act (OAA) was supposed to provide the basic cost.

I know "Meals On Wheels" (MOW) is a common term but it is also a separate organization that promotes and markets their wares. After several years, I don't understand why our offerings seem to always be classed as MOW.
