Hear from Venezuelan migrant sent to Martha's Vineyard - CNN
CNN speaks to a Venezuelan migrant unexpectedly flown to Martha's Vineyard as well as volunteers scrambling to help the sudden influx sent by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. CNN's Miguel Marquez reports. - Aired on 09/15/2022.

This was the first news that I heard today and it's stuck with me. A friend said that DeSantis should be charged with human trafficking, there were kids on that bus - and they were not in Florida! 
NPR reports a plane originated in San Antonio, made a stop in Florida and another stop in South Carolina before flying to Martha's Vineyard. Migrants interviewed by the outlet said they didn't spend time in Florida.
My maternal grandmother came from Poland - and went through Ellis Island. She was 15, the eldest in her family, and traveled with only a friend. And she made a good life here, eventually married and raised two daughters who both graduated from college. I've seen her ship's manifest and it says she came from Russia - since her area of Poland was under occupation at the time. People come here not only to seek a better life, but also because they're in danger, like those from Central America. It also sickens me to see them used as political pawns.
