I visited the USSR in the late '80s with my grandmother's peace group. We were visiting Peter the Great's gigantic mansion/museum in what was then Leningrad when I saw a person of color descending the stairs and it dawned on me that I hadn't seen any minorities at all since we got off the plane. Then, a minute later, I saw the gentleman having a friendly conversation with a member of our group - turns out he was yet another American tourist. Where are these minority Communists she speaks of??
