I did not here the part where we should negotiate with Russia. The position the progressive caucus he is a member of released and then tried to erase within said time frame.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) told Semafor Tuesday he disagreed with the letter and said the caucus was right to withdraw it, saying the Russia's invasion "has to be resisted."

His caucus was wrong to issue it. Getting a cat back in a bag is tough at the last minute and ahead of the most important election. Egberto asserts that Bernie had the entire election strategy nailed down weeks ago. I content that Sen. Sanders, despite his good ideas, could not keep his coalition from doing something stupid and wrong at the 11 hour.

I frankly am most disappointed in Rep. Raskin. He signed it.

as Pramila Jayapal stated (she wasn't back pedaling, she was clarifying her position).

Negotiation does not necessarily mean capitulation. Throughout the Cold War the US and the USSR were always in dialogue through whatever conflicts that were happening. Kennedy and Khrushchev were in direct communication during the Cuban missile crisis. All modern wars end with negotiation, unless it's all out war like WWII, and ongoing talks can help limit misunderstandings and escalation. The US negotiated with North Vietnam for 5 years before that war ended. Only the far right saw it as capitulation, but then they wanted to nuke Hanoi. IMO, the goal of US policy is to destroy Russia's military and drive Putin from power. I suspect it's designed after Reagan's supposed defeat of the USSR by outspending them on defense and escalating the arms war. It's a dangerous gamble.

Negotiation is not a dirty word.

The timing and pharsing were bad.

I think their letter should have stated with you sentence!
"Negotiation does not necessarily mean capitulation."

BUT - get the hell out of Ukraine (since 2014) should have been the condition for talks. Nothing short. Putin has no safe harbor. It makes it look like a fraction of our party is unclear of the threat to global democracies.
