i play something this long in the background while i work suduku on a different site.

the service dog part of the conversation was my favorite part. too many veterans (it happened to me) lose contact. your family and friends have reason to distance during the "self medication" phase. a dog or cat loves much more unconditionally.

I was lucky enough to be able to see him in person last November when his Tour Tour came to my area, Albany, NY. He spoke for over two hours to a sold out crowd with only a microphone, a stool and three glasses of water - and I don't recall him using the stool or the water. He talked a bit about his SNL days, but mostly about his time in the Senate - he told jokes (Ted Cruz), did impersonations (McConnell) and told stories, he said he initially tried to avoid joking, but when his Committee had a long wait, Dianne Feinstein would ask him to tell a joke and there was arguing among those who didn't necessarily get it. And while he was speaking, he drew one of those freehand maps of the United States - and offered to sign it and donate it to a local Democratic charity. He got a standing ovation at the end...

And I agree with you that he has a lot of compassion as well as being incredibly smart. And that we sure could use him now more than ever...
