(171,432 posts)Perhaps because he seemed to have written off the party and has been distancing himself to get a more "indie" vote share as well as aligning to the Manchin wing.
I have been getting continual DNC solicitations for Senate races outside of my own here in PA, including Ryan's, Demmings', and Beasley's - and more recently Cortez-Masto's, so it's not like they are completely avoiding them.

(171,432 posts)although in his case, he is currently a Congressman, so not really one. And in a more recent case, he essentially threw Biden under the bus as well.
I had figured that given his stature there, he probably had one of the best chances to get that seat - particularly due to his name recognition. But then if one does what many did in 2010, who chose to "run away from Obama" due to the (faux) "unpopularity" of the ACA, then that apparently doesn't sit well with some of the more machine-types in the party.
I.e., you can't publicly and very vocally bat down your own party's platform and de facto head, and then have your hand out asking for $$. And if you do want to appear "independent" but still be considered part of a valid wing of the party, there are ways to do it (like how Fetterman has done it) that doesn't trash or undermine the party's platform and leadership.
In this very partisan atmosphere, it is very very difficult to be a "moderate" at this point.

(114,650 posts)and union jobs were always better, even shitty jobs with shitty unions. Crummy bosses that made shitty jobs so shitty had to keep their bad behavior under control when they knew they'd have the whole union breathing down their necks if they didn't.
It's a matter of respect.
