This Is Awesome: Anti-gay Troy, MI, mayor schooled at City Council meeting by gay family

To summarize, a screenshot recently surfaced showing Troy Mayor Janice Daniels making (before she became mayor, not that it matters) some pretty nasty anti-gay remarks on Facebook after the New York marriage equality victory.

Daniels's response to the discovery was:

I may have said something like that. I probably shouldn’t have used that kind of language, but I do believe marriage should be between one man and one woman.
Needless to say, there has been quite the backlash in Troy. Daniels was absolutely ripped apart in the City Council meeting that took place after the Facebook remarks surfaced. There were calls for her to resign. She was featured by Keith Olbermann as the "Worst Person in the World." There have even been calls to boycott the city of Troy. Despite all of this, and despite the very real embarrassment she has caused the city, she has not stepped down.

Well, at last week's City Council meeting, a family paid a visit to Daniels during the public comments portion of the meeting. A gay family. A lesbian couple and their two daughters. The result? Daniels was schooled in the most awesome possible way.

This is going viral on Youtube and Facebook and Twitter. Talk about embarrassing one's self as a political figure.

Loved how the group at the meeting stood up and applauded at the end of the comments.

This will put the City of Troy Michigan on the map for all the wrong reasons.

I think that Mayor can now find herself in the last elected office she will ever hold.

One of those mothers might be the next elected Mayor. Beautifully done.

One of her favorite historical figures is Ayn Rand.... REALLY!

A bigoted Catholic rich TV guy bully and a libertarian atheist woman who took social welfare payments and services at the end of her life.

No surprise then that she is described as a Tea Party candidate in some of the press releases.

As this family has, and not let the anger overwhelm me. Looking at the four of them, I'm proud to be a human being today.

And I desperately hope the voters will do the right thing if Daniels ever decides to run for anything again.

Honestly, who the hell are these idiots who don't understand that families with two moms or two dads are no different than families with a mom and dad, or just a mom, or just a dad, or just grandma/grandpa. I'm proud to be a neighbor of the family with such an erudite mom and those lovely kids ... and ashamed to be a 'neighbor' to the hateful bigots who support Mayor Daniels with her detestable homophobia.
