DOJ Subpoenas Georgia Secretary Of State For Info About Trump - Ring of Fire

Special prosecutor Jack Smith has sent a subpoena to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, seeking information about the fake elector scheme, and possibly even the information about the phone call that Trump placed to the state's Republican leaders. This is another giant leap forward for the ongoing investigation, and it shows that the DOJ is putting particular emphasis on the efforts to defraud the United States. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Things are going from bad to worse for Donald Trump with the ongoing, uh, special prosecutor investigation, Jack Smith. Um, looking into the fake elector scheme that Donald Trump, of course tried to push along with his legal team last week, of course, we found out that Smith had sent subpoenas to, uh, multiple different states seeking information about the fake elector scheme. Most importantly, we want any and all communications that you election officials in the state had with Donald Trump. Maybe you had 'em with Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Sidney Powell, whoever it is, give them to us. Yesterday, the Associated Press got their hands on the copy of another subpoena that was sent out but not revealed late last week. And that subpoena went to Georgia's Secretary of State, Brad Raffin. And they are seeking from Waffens, uh, any and all communications in any form between June 1st, 2020 and January 20th, 2021, two from or involving Trump, his campaign lawyers and aids, including former campaign officials such as Bill Stepian, Justin Clark lawyers, John Eastman, Boris Epstein, Lin Wood, Sidney Powell, uh, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. So basically Jack Smith is looking at Georgia, which of course was a hotbed for Donald Trump's plot. That's where he made that infamous January 2nd phone call, Raff Sper, go find the votes. And now the special prosecutor says, you know what? Raff Sper, go find the files. Go find the call logs, go find the emails. Because I think those are pertinent to my investigation here.

I have faith in Jack Smith as the special prosecutor. I think the movements that we have seen from him, the actions that he has taken, they are very indicative of a man who is pursuing criminal charges, possibly on multiple fronts here. The fake elector scheme is the big one in terms of what can we prosecute Donald Trump for? That fake elector scheme is bigger than even the documents case. The documents case is easy. The fake elector is a little bit more difficult, but it could carry more significant charges because with the fake elector scheme, this is what people have to understand. We're talking about fraud against the federal government. That's massive. You know, sending, organizing these fake electors to basically circumvent a dually elected slate of electors. That's a big one. That's a very serious crime here in the United States, and that appears to be what Jack Smith is really focusing on right now. And with Georgia. We know all this happened. We

Know, know the phone call was made because it was recorded. We know that they had fake electors ready to go. Fanny Willis has revealed all of that with her, uh, special grand jury investigation. That is still going on. And by the way, we're a little past due on the indictments for that. She had told us probably early December, here it is December 13th, we ain't got nothing yet. Kind of waiting to see what our Christmas present's gonna be from there. But either way, I do think Jack Smith is on the right track. I do think he's focusing on the things that matter. He's getting the information he needs and we wish him nothing but good luck from this point forward.
