And I've also heard speculation that TFG will escape to Russia or Saudi Arabia, but what would he do without all the attention and adulation that he lives for?? In either of those countries he'd be a nobody and beholden to others. Just my thoughts...

And wishing you the Happiest of New Years, my friend! May it be a better year for all of us (except TFG!)!

a celebrity. Putin would use him for anti American sentiment in Russia and to promote it in the US. But, Putin's health is not good and his position in Russia might be shaky due to the bungling of his war against Ukraine. So how long would Trump be secure in Russia?

Saudis might not take him because we are officially allies with Saudi Arabia.

Maybe some South American country would take him.

5. They keep saying that he can't serve time in prison since he has lifetime Secret Service

Maybe some would be willing to work at the prison? The second option would be home confinement, but isn't that what he's been doing now? The pundits are saying that he has no intention to run for president since he's remained in Florida and has hired no staff, that he only announced his intention since he thought that would shield him from indictment.

We can make an exception for him, in other times he could be in front of a firing squad.

Jack Smith has 2 new Grand Juries looking into tfg? Jack is not Jacking around!

Prior to the 2024 election, every time some R is exposed with their ties to Russia or Putler, we as a party
should not let voters forget. Repugs & FQX have been saying/hinting for years that Democrats are
Communists, now we have the opportunity to paint the entire reQublican party as communists starting
with tfg and all his cronies. The bumper stickers & slogans will literally write themselves.

9. I think he will lose his Secret Service protection.

It seems the Bureau of Prisons gets the say on where he will serve his time. It seems ludicrous to think that he would get to retain that level of protection if he is in a regular prison, or even on House Arrest. He'll get convicted and sentenced, and then this great debate on where to send him will ensue.

There is no precedent for a President in prison, is there? I don't see where retaining Secret Service is a magic right he has. He is a former President, and probably will be convicted, over numerous felonies. You lose a lot of privileges when you are sent to prison. I can't see where he should get unprecedented special handling or House Arrest just so he can retain Secret Service coverage. They'll try; the SC will put together an elaborate reasoning based on faulty premises in order to treat him better than the lowest convict, but there is nothing, really, to keep him out of a regular cell where prison bars and guards are already there.

Do they want to create a precedent where an SS guy sits in the cell with him? What about having to account for that extra gun? They don't allow people to do that. They don't allow badges, wallets, etc. in there, except badges for the armed prison guards. They don't need that, anyway. tRump will be forfeiting that extra consideration. Also, if they think that for some reason he needs extra protection, do with him what they already do with high-profile convicts, put him in isolation.

If I were Trump, I'd run. It may not be what he envisioned, but it would be better than prison. He'll find somewhere to park it. The reality is, the Bureau of Prisons is not under an obligation to maintain Trump with an SS detail under a house arrest situation.

It could be that whatever rule we made about the SS protection does not apply in a prison setting. That moves the argument from not whether he is entitled to it, but where he is entitled to it. To think that he'll avoid prison and still get to sh*t on his golden throne would put him above the law that applies to you and me. I think that he can end up behind bars, just like anyone else.

The really hard part is finding an impartial jury, and sequestering them in order to protect THEM.

It seems like the practice of judicial economy can be argued against an expensive HA, when they can just send him to a regular prison. They might not be able to keep him in minimum security, and that would be something they would have to consider.

Flee, Donald, no one wants you here.

10. Interesting scenario and it makes sense to me.

But we have already seen that he's always given special considerations. If anyone else had stolen classified documents - even one - they would have ended up in jail, not asked for months to return them. And what about the insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol? They've been identified, charged, tried, convicted and jailed. Meanwhile, their "leader" who called for them there has still been free to sound off and travel to more of his "rallies." So I'm not holding my breath, but I agree that your scenario is the right one.

16. I agree with you.

He is being special handled. But, what he did with those missing docs is/was worth discovering. He has done incalculable damage to our national security, and we need to know which countries he was operating with.

If they send him to house arrest, I don't think he can go to MAL. This is because he got a special designation for the property, national heritage or something (how ironic), and it's possible that he can't be housed there. That's what I would argue.

If I were Garland (or, Jack!) I would be eying a massive search warrant. We may not ever find where those docs are, but they have a reason now to persuade a judge that it's possible. Not sure wtf Trump mounted his own search for. His team's thinking is muddled. He may be trying to seed the idea that the missing docs are packed up somewhere and never went out of country.

Of course, many attorney's here say that the technical requirements for another search warrant cannot be met. If so, then indictment here we come. First half of the year.
