Russian troops 'told they're fighting Poland' - Prof. Michael Clarke - Times Radio

"A dissident general has been mocking the Kremlin for a long time about how incompetent they're conducting this war."

Many captured troops mobilised by Putin have been misled to believe they are defending Russia from Polish troops, Professor Michael Clarke tells #TimesRadio.

I remember my reaction when the "domino theory" was intoned on the news as though it had been erched on stone and handed down through the ages and I wondered why they thought people were that stupid. Well, a lot of them were that stupid, especially older people who'd fought in WWII or Korea, They either lacked bullshit detectors or they overrode them because the military and the government would NEVER lie to them, right? The same thing is going on in Russia away from the big cities.

Yes, lying to people to get them to support war is just plain evil, no matter who does it and for what cockamaimie reason they throw out there. War is something nations need to learn to avoid, ours kind of topping the list, because it is harmful to the country as a whole as it squanders young lives over nothing and depletes the treasury.

The main difference with the Russian fakery around their war against Ukraine is that they're actively annexing territory, something we didn't do unless you're counting new bases overseas.

It's all lies, aimed at patriotic people who won't question them. It doesn't even seem to matter that the lies change on a weekly basis, at least in Russia, where it is now dangerous to talk to neighbors about how fast the stories are changing and how they contradict each other.

I think McNamara clung to the domino theory and the faked Tonkin incident as he was mumbling incoherently into his pureed peas in his dotage.

(But POLAND? Who knew the Polish were Nazis now or they'd invaded anybody? "Scuse me while I try to de boggle my mind)

Russians will lie about everything all the time it seems. If only some leaders in the west had the ability to see through their propaganda and lies we, with Ukraine, might not be in this situation.

This smells of desperation on the part of Russia. Sad because the Putin/Kremlin criminal cabal has left so many Russians in ignorance through bullshit lies, too many will die.
