Should the West Give Putin Security Guarantees? - TLDR News EU

In order to de-escalate the war in Ukraine, some have suggested the west actually ought to help Russia out, and provide Putin with security guarantees. So in this video we outline what this could look like and if this could actually be the best choice.

… it’s made clear that the guarantees are exactly as binding as those that Russia made to Ukraine in ‘94

What does that mean?

I personally feel that without definition of these terms within the argument being made, the discussion can and will go off the rails.

What is really being said here?

I think a bit more critical thinking is required.

HOWEVER--> there is no excuse for invading a bordering country that has not been a threat.

Yes, we should have made an agreement with Russia and kept it. Maybe this whole war could have been avoided. War is dramatic and exciting at least at first but it is ultimately very destructive of civilization everywhere, not just in one geograffic area. Some get rich off it or get glory and promotions from it, but for the rest of us it is a disaster.

Is the US goal here to destroy Russia with this proxy war? Maybe not a good idea overall for our world.

It’s not about blame, its about how do we get out of this before there is more destruction! The time for posturing and glory is over.

Russia needed no security guarantees. This is a crisis of Putin's pwn making. He has reinvigorated NATO and even got Finland and Sweden to apply for membership. If Russia wants to resolve this they should end the hostilities and pay reparation for decimating Ukraine.
