Trouble For Trump As Special Prosecutor Gets Trove Of State Documents About Fake Elector Scheme -RoF

Special Prosecutor Jack Smith got his hands on documents from local election officials in both Wisconsin and Nevada, two states that were targets for the fake elector scheme. The documents include communications with Donald Trump's legal team, as well as communications between state officials regarding the schemes. This is bad news for everyone in Trump World, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

With all of the insanity taking place in the House of Representatives with the Republicans, it's easy to forget that Donald Trump is under criminal investigation by special prosecutor Jack Smith with the US Department of Justice. And this week there were some very big developments in Jack Smith's investigation, particularly subpoenas that were finally answered from the state of Wisconsin and the state of Nevada. Those subpoenas sent to local election officials in certain counties in both of those states were seeking any communications that these election workers may have had with Donald Trump, his lawyers, or anyone else associated with the Trump campaign or the Trump administration. Those records were turned over to Jack Smith. It was announced this week. So here is what we have in, uh, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. They were able to obtain reports or, or information via the subpoena on employees who most frequently communicated with attorneys and surrogates for the Trump campaign leading up to the election and after, including during the pendency of the recount.

So they've got communication between election officials in Milwaukee County with members of the Trump campaign, with Trump lawyers. It says, so that's probably not good, especially during the recount part. That's the, that's the part that really sticks out. Like sure, it's not totally uncommon for campaigns to reach out to election officials, you know, before an election, uh, during a recount. Eh, that's, that's where things get a little shady, right. Especially given what we know Trump and his people were trying to do, which was convince these individuals that there was massive fraud. And you've gotta throw out these ballots. That of course, is what the communications as far as we know were about. Same thing happened in Clark County, Nevada. Um, officials did not include any communications with Trump directly, but did show lawyers working for the former president, raising concerns about potential election fraud that were fraud, that were later found to be baseless soap. Trump himself didn't reach out to officials in Clark County, but his lawyers did, and they were specifically trying to push their baseless fraud claims. So we don't know specifically other than what I just read you, what is in those documents. We don't know what the exact communications were. We do know the topics that were discussed. We do not know who was involved, uh,

At either the state level or with the Trump lawyer, uh, uh, group. But we do know the communications happened. But more importantly, we do know that special prosecutor, Jack Smith, now has his hands on these things. That investigation is still moving full steam ahead. So even if you're distracted by what's happening in DC right now, understand bad things are happening for Donald Trump. He actually suffered a couple major court losses this week as well, and, uh, his lawyers are now possibly facing sanctions in New York. So bad week for Trump. Yeah, it's pretty bad for Kevin McCarthy too. But Trump's weak may have been even worse because of the future implications of what we learned.
