Related: About this forumTrump Desperately Tries To Convince Republicans He Didn't Cost Them The Midterms - Ring of Fire
Donald Trump knows that one of the biggest knocks against him right now is his pathetic showing in the midterms, and he's now desperately trying to convince Republican voters that the disaster in November wasn't his fault. Instead, he is blaming the Republican Party's attacks on abortion, along with general incompetence from Mitch McConnell. The truth is that all of these things played a very large role, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Donald Trump is desperately trying to undo. One of the biggest knocks against him as he runs for president for the third time, and that knock of course, is that his presence hurt Republicans dearly in the midterms. Now, it's no secret that Donald Trump backed a lot of candidates who would go on to not only prove themselves to be blithering idiots, but also wacko extremists who ultimately lost in fact, of the people that Donald Trump endorsed, not including the incumbents and the people that were running unopposed. His track record for endorsements was abysmal. The only individual that Donald Trump endorsed that was in a, a race that was tight, a swing race, there were no incumbents, was JD Vance in Ohio, and of course, JD Vance ended up winning. Dr. Oz in Pennsylvania, went down in flames. Herschel Walker almost pulled it off, but still couldn't do it. Then of course, we have Carrie Lake.
We all know that story. We've got Doug Mastri, all of Donald Trump's most extreme endorsements. Blake Masters also in Arizona did very badly. So Donald Trump is now out there trying to rewrite history telling Republicans, it's not my fault you guys didn't win big in the midterms. In fact, that is actually exactly what he said recently on true social. He said, quote, it wasn't my fault that the Republicans didn't live up to expectations in the midterms. Now, he then went on to actually make a point that's a little worrisome, because it's a point that shows that maybe there is a spark of that old Donald Trump magic still out there. Because he then went on to say that, you know, it wasn't my fault that we didn't do well. What killed us was all of you extreme Republicans out there proposing these full bans on abortion. Now, he also said that in an interview last week with Breitbart, he said, you gotta have the three exceptions, rape, incest, and you know, to save the life of the mother.
You can't just have an outright ban no matter what. Now, even that is still extreme, right? Takes away women's right to decide what to do with their own bodies, but by seemingly being more rational than the rest of his party that could potentially endear him to some moderate Republicans. And that's why I say maybe there's a spark of that. Old magic left. Donald Trump, when he started running in 20 15, 20 16, pretended to be a populist. There's nothing populist about him, but he went out there, he connected with people, people that were struggling, and he told them who to blame for that, even though he was wrong about who to blame, but basically promised them, I'm gonna make things better for you because I understand your plight. I feel your pain as the Bill Clinton thing used to go. So by coming out now and saying, listen, we can't be this extreme on the issue of
Abortion. We've, we've gotta tone that down. We've gotta, we've gotta work on our policies here that is worrisome. And it does show that maybe Trump to a degree understands what he needs to sound like in order to win an election. That's the only thing about this that kind of worries me. After, of course, he then, you know, said it was the people pushing the abortion bans. He then went on to attack Mitch McConnell saying, McConnell stupid when it comes to spending money.
