(12,002 posts)Just who is Luke Beasley? He looks like hes about sixteen. Hes certainly entitled to post what he posts, but other than access to the internet and a viewpoint, is there something which distinguishes him? Education? Employment history? Something?

(127,325 posts)I'm also hoping that he will be placing more emphasis on what is happening in Austin since the Legislature has convened. I was told that some of his interviews with MAGAts have appeared on the David Pakman show.
We all have to start somewhere. I don't see a problem providing some encouragement and posting some threads for publicity.

(127,325 posts)If we want to get more people in Texas to vote blue, then we need to get our message out there which means supporting our own. Luke reaches a demographic that Democrats also wants to reach. Luke does support progressive causes, the issue at this time with his vlogs is his lack of institutional knowledge which experience will develop.
Luke's situation isn't much different than some of the people that we see on other YouTube channels like Medias Touch or The Young Turks. Some of the correspondents are top-of-the-mark while others are outright annoying. I do appreciate the fact that Luke isn't hyperbolic and the video clips avoid the loud musical introductions and closings. Other than a brief message to subscribe and that he is on Patreon, Luke doesn't promote his own brand of merchandise either.

(89 posts)I worked in radio for 15 years and the young talent had to start somewhere. I remember listening to the baby jocks in small markets and cringing but, by God, they were on-air living their dream. We definitely need the young folks jumping into political vlogging as it can take a few years to polish the rough edges. It's a time to work on delivery as well as production/editing. And he can build a base/viewership.
I am convinced that Gen Z is going to save our asses--in more way than one.
On a side note: stay strong in TX. I know it'll eventually go Blue again.

(127,325 posts)There is an absence of liberal voices in Texas, particularly young people. Living in Austin will provide Luke an environment to increase his understanding of politics and I really hope that he becomes involved with state politics--my experience as a state employee as a young adult was invaluable.
Give time to listen to the new voices, provide feedback, and debate new ideas will have the next generation to develop critical thinking skills.

(12,002 posts)I spent 11 years in radio. Experience is essential to growth. If you want to hear a cringe worthy air check, listen to Donald Steele Reverts earliest known effort while at the Don Martin School of Broadcasting in 1960. Five years later he was The Real Don Steele doing afternoons at KHJ.
