Free Julian Assange: Noam Chomsky, Dan Ellsberg & Jeremy Corbyn Lead Call at Belmarsh Tribunal

Former British Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg, famed linguist and dissident Noam Chomsky and others gave testimony Friday at the Belmarsh Tribunal in Washington, D.C., calling on President Biden to drop charges against Julian Assange. The WikiLeaks founder has been languishing for close to four years in the harsh Belmarsh prison in London while appealing extradition to the United States. If convicted in the United States, Julian Assange could face up to 175 years in jail for violating the U.S. Espionage Act for publishing documents that exposed U.S. war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan. Friday's event was held at the National Press Club and co-chaired by Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman. We spend the hour featuring compelling excerpts from the proceedings.

Chomsky has zero credibility. And Corbyn has even less.

The reason Trump supports Assange is because Assange worked against Democracy, favored Trump, hated Clinton and is misogynistic.

I have no sympathy for Julian Assange or for Trump enablers.

the Founders selected it as the 1st Amendment for a reason, without it, we don't have a democracy.

about the meaning of the Constitution? If so, that’s is ok. Assange may be a priority for you. You have the right to set your own political priorities. No one can work on everything.

I am prioritizing myself and my millions of sisters. This is the heart of the battle for equality for all.

I will have to the issue of care for misogynists to other misogynists - there are so many Assange should be able to raise support for himself among their ranks. Possibly Justice Alito will signal some support.

What is your take on the hacking and releasing of John Podesta’s emails ?

A woman's right to control her own body isn't helped in any way, shape or form by trashing the 1st Amendment because you don't like the method as to how the information was obtained.

As for hacking emails, it can be a felony or misdemeanor depending on the circumstances

Having said that, do you believe Politico, New York Times and other publications should be prosecuted for publishing the same thing as Wikileaks?

Here’s a good article with both sides given. Just an FYI: I support the ACLU with monthly donations but I do not agree with their statements. He broke the law, endangered sources and gave away US held secrets.

The first amendment does protect ppl when they break the law! If it does every criminal in the business of spilling our secrets would walk free
