30 second clip on the The Empty Library, the Berlin memorial where Nazis book burnings took place.

The Empty Library (1995), also known as Bibliothek or simply Library, is a public memorial by Israeli sculptor Micha Ullman dedicated to the remembrance of the Nazi book burnings that took place in the Bebelplatz in Berlin, Germany on May 10, 1933. The memorial is set into the cobblestones of the plaza and contains a collection of empty subterranean bookcases.
… Etched with a quote from German-Jewish author Heinrich Heine's play Almansor (1820), it features the chilling message:

That was but a prelude;

where they burn books,

they will ultimately burn people as well.

1. And as deSaster's Latin fans know, where they DISAPPEAR books - people eventually will as well

deSantis is known for keeping a coterie of far-right Latin supporters and advisers - many of them with family (or direct) ties to fascist dictatorships.

In Argentina, some 25,000 titles were similarly banned under the ruinous Videla regime (1976-81).

While censorship abated toward the end of Videla's tenure, and during the three brief regimes that followed, it wasn't until democracy returned in 1983 that it was lifted for good.

And just days after the last dictator (Bignone) stepped down in December '83, local artist Marta Minujín assembled a "Parthenon of Books" - a display of each of the 25,000 banned books:

When Trump took office, she re-staged the display in 2017 for Germany's famed Documenta series:

And as Flawrida kids are inevitably learning, history has a way of repeating itself (or at least, rhyming).

I think that evil smurf deSantis might just be creating a whole generation of very "woke" young people - mortified at what their tin-pot governor is trying to do to them.

DeSantis does. He’s using the past as a roadmap to the future.

Pity the kids, teachers, and librarians.

Of course they will try to pollute the messages.

But kids are known to see through the "grown-up" shenanigans and may emerge even more liberal and progressive.

That's what I was thinking.

The oily little bastard is trying to blot out the sun with his hand - but he's only fooling himself.

Which, as kids will tell you, is something only little (and bratty) kids do.
