Dad demands justice for daughter's death by suicide after bullying video surfaces

Another beautiful human being gone too soon because of bullying. This is why I will always fight against the bullies. In person or on-line, it is all the same. As the father said the girl was hurt by the "embarrassment and humiliation." Bullying is meant to demean, degrade and stigmatize another human being. It comes from a bully with real internal emotional issues who projects the pain they feel on others.

RIP Adriana. I'm so sorry I wasn't there to help.

…I’m immensely glad that my youth was spent in an era before social media. Sure, my life in school may have often been a living hell, but at least I could come home and be free from that until the next morning. And, even with that, I had suicidal thoughts on more than a few occasions. Had it been the modern day, when bullying can follow you home 24/7, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be here today.

(One other thing I would add is that the word “bullying” is used too frequently to minimize the seriousness of the behavior. To many people, bullying implies teasing, making up insulting nicknames, and so on. That sort of harassment can be damaging enough, but what happened to this poor girl – and what happened to me more than a few times – was outright criminal assault. When a victim gets hit in the face with a bottle hard enough to cause bleeding and bruises, that isn’t just a matter of name-calling, and needs to be treated much more stringently.)

"but what happened to this poor girl – and what happened to me more than a few times – was outright criminal assault."

Assaults such as this should be charged to the fullest extent of the law. Our society needs to, no it must, stop this behavior. I have witnessed horrible behavior by kids in this generation. The rules need to be drummed into them so that they understand the consequences and repercussions of their actions. Schools and parents need to step up and stop this once and for all.

…which seems to arise at the onset of puberty. But society can control how that is expressed, and it seems our hyper-competitive society, which lionizes the struggle for “survival of the fittest” and insists on defining a strict pecking order where you always know who’s “above” you and who’s “below” you, makes things several orders of magnitude worse.

To prey on a young person's image of self - monstrous. What a waste of a precious life, so much taken away-so much cruelty.
