(43,308 posts)proceed with indictments by summer, more than six months before next February's first primary. Which will then not stop the courts.
No election season can stop courts once the indictments are made. Campaign season has only been a norm for stopping investigations over issues of a conflict of interest.
Not this time. Not after the perfect "due process" the DOJ has afforded all plaintiffs to-date.

(43,308 posts)Trump a vexatious litigant? It's not "largesse." It just seems like wealth shouldn't be able to buy so much damned "due process" because judges don't want trial rulings appealed.
Pence testimony will be done by end of March. The cases are almost built. Then it will all hinge on Garland. Who won't overturn his own Special Counsel pick after all the work that's been done. Smith's indictments could be before June, and pre-trial motions could take another month. Juries will be empaneled by September and full on trials by fall.

(43,308 posts)We shouldn't have to suffer the pace of rule of law, in one sense. In the other, we are obliged to respect courts' "due process." I can't disagree that we have a national security issue, but that's on the FBI, not the courts.

Pence is no hero and I suspect if he complies with the subpoena and tells the real truth, the "Pence saved democracy" myth pretty much goes down the toilet.

(1,830 posts)How driven to power do you have to be to blow off a murderous mob directed by your president? Really? He should have been the first one standing on DOJ steps demanding King Magat be prosecuted. Alienating nut jobs should not have any leverage in the issue.
