Zelenskyy hits back at Berlusconi criticism over Ukraine war - NBC News

“Mr. Berlusconi, it seems to me, has never had his house bombarded with missiles every day,” said Ukraine’s president, when asked about the former Italian prime minister, a friend of Vladimir Putin, blaming him for the war. “Thank God his partner from the Russian Federation didn't drive a tank into his yard and destroy his relatives,” added Zelenskyy. - Aired on 02/21/2023.

They have created a nation of 40 million people that will hate russia for generations... and seek to become "terrorists" to kill russians. This is the nature of a nation that is "conquered" by brutality. Russians will never be safe in Ukraine while there are even 1 million ukrainians left alive. or even 100,000... or 10,000.

They will seek revenge on them. But most of the ethnic Ukrainians in the eastern part of Ukraine are Russian speaking, and although most of them probably are switching to the Ukrainian language, it is a dicey proposition, since the last thing you want to do is give them a reason to go to Putin's side. Also, there is a significant Hungarian speaking population in a small part of western Ukraine, mostly near the border of Hungary. The question is, when Ukraine does liberate the Donbass region and all of the occupied territories, what will occur to the ethnic Ukrainians that speak Russian here? Remember that the Donbass is an area that before 2014 was mostly Russian-speaking, same with Crimea, although the latter even more so. I don't think it will be that easy to quickly have them change. Russian and Ukrainian have asymmetric mutual intelligibility. While Ukrainian speakers can understand Russian very well, that's not really the case vice-versa. Russian speakers often have a difficult time understanding Ukrainian.
