Congress. They were trying to overthrow the government.

DOJ keeps treating this as a "criminal" case, akin to cheating on your taxes. This was more like the Confederacy attacking that Federal fort in South Carolina -- except they violently attacked the seat of government, not an outpost.

Being timid and safe will make it much worse on the next go-around. And there WILL be a next time. The insurrectionists who served their slap-on-the-wrist sentences have now released a "music" single featuring the head of the insurrection, who is again trying for ultimate power.

TFG got away with threatening a DA with a baseball bat. Near the same time, DHS labeled Erin Brockovitch a "special interest terrorist" for daring to speak at East Palestine, while EPA is doing everything it can to shield the oiligarchs from accountability. DHS/DOJ/government is riddled with insurrectionist fan-bois, it seems.

We need to insist that DOJ do its job and protect us from these reich-wing terrorists. They're not simply cheating on their taxes.

I am fine with nailing Trump on lesser crimes that are rock solid to convict.

on the leader. Prison under any stripe.

But why are Gaetz, Jordan, and Santos ( e.g. ) in Congress and not in prison?
Why did the Covfeferacy take the House after trying to overthrow the government?

Even Rethug Cheney said they're responsible for that day. Now they control Congress. Nothing useful will get passed, and they have subpoena power. After trying to overthrow the government. There's something very wrong here. Germany acted swiftly and decisively on THEIR nazi wannabes.

Insurrectionists with slap-on-the-wrist sentences are out and glorifying in their "hero" status. They released a single with Herr Drumpf, fer dawg's sake. Ausgezeichnet!

He's a symptom as well as a disease.

We are witnessing the culmination of the strategy laid out in the Powell Memorandum of 1971. Lewis Powell, later of the Supreme Court. Capitalism plays the long game.

Detailed pla. It attacks colleges, the media, intellectuals, arts and sciences, and politicians as the sources of the threat to capitalism. Sound like recent headlines? It spells out the strategies that Big Money has used to weaken the opposition.

Worth a read. The link is an image of the typescript, so I can't quote it, but a quick scan gives the gist of the plan. Big Money has followed it faithfully. Education, television, "other media", scholarly journals, books, advertisements, and finally government. Just think of Reagan removing the Fairness Doctrine and helping the Australian Murdoch qualify to buy US media.

The oiligarchs seized on Trump as a way to gain more power quickly. Many judges (Supremes, 5th Circuit), for one thing.

What always kills me is that the biggest conspiracy in history (the rich) plays out in the open while lots of bizarre theories get all the ink.
