I know that there are equally heinous channels out there, but they aren't necessarily accessible on most cable systems.

When I was in the lower grades, we lived on the side of a mountain - and, unbelievably, we only got one channel!

But I did see the moon landing! I was at summer camp and my friend and I happened to be in just the right place at the right time. The camp nurse likely had the only TV in the place, saw us passing by her cabin and insisted that we come inside to witness history!
