Democrats Plan To Fight Dirty To Take Down Republicans In 2024 - Ring of Fire

Democrats have decided to take a page out of the Republican playbook (specifically Karl Rove in 2004) by using ballot initiatives by Republicans to increase voter turnout for Democrats. This tactic isn't really "fighting dirty," but it is interesting that Democrats have decided to follow the lead of the Republicans who continue to get a leg up on them at the state level. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Democrats heading into 2024, even though we've got a long way before we head into 2024, have decided to take a page out of the Republican Dirty Tricks book. They're gonna fight a little bit dirty by emulating what Carl Rove did for George W. Bush in the year 2004. 2004 of course, was the last time that a Republican candidate won the popular vote. And Carl Rove was able to pull that off by getting state Republicans to put on their ballots that year, referendums on same sex marriage, basically trying to outlaw same sex marriage at the state level to drive up that evangelical right wing vote so that George W. Bush could get reelected and it worked. So Democrats now, I mean it'll be 20 years later, they're looking at that plan and they're saying, hold up, hold up. We got an issue right now that we are winning on. We've got an issue that we are winning on, even in red states. Let's put it on the ballot in 2024 to drive out democratic turnout. So what is the issue folks? Abortion bans.

Democrats are now working on a plan, sorry to get, uh, not abortion bans, but legislation allowing abortions onto the state ballot across the country. In 2024, we saw an abortion ban in the state of Kansas, the very, very red state of Kansas defeated last year by Republican voters. We saw other states that put bans on their ballots, get rejected even by conservative voters. And of course the Democrats did better in those areas because those ballot initiatives drove out turnout. So the Democrats are saying, listen, Rove did it 20 years ago with same sex marriage. We can do it with abortion. So it's not actually playing dirty, it's not actually tricking people, it's just saying, listen, we know we face an uphill battle. We can use this to our advantage. Honestly, it's one of the smartest things I've seen Democrats do in a long time. Democrats typically let Republicans capture the narrative. And if from that point forward, Democrats are always trying to play catch up, they're always a little bit behind trying to get things done. This is a preemptive proactive plan and we are so far out from the 2024 elections for them to have a plan. This concrete and congealed right now

Is brilliant. I love it. I think it's great. I hope you do it because in the last two elections for with the House, at least believe it or not, Democrats have not done well. You know, we had 2018, we had the big blue wave, but then in 2020, even though Democrats won the White House and of course the Senate, we only had, you know, like a six seat majority in the house. After that we, we lost a lot of house seats and then of course in 2022 we lost even more. So we've gotta stop the bleeding. And you do that by getting more people out there. And I think Democrats have a solid plan here, and it's about time they started fighting like Republicans, cuz Republicans aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and Democrats need to stop being afraid of that too.

Fighting dirty would involve deception, illegality, etc. Democrats are not "ratf*ckers" like Republicans.
