Related: About this forumThe 14th Amendment - Senator Bernie Sanders
Republicans have made it clear they will hold the world economy hostage unless President Biden gives in to their demands. Instead, he should prepare to use the 14th Amendment to ensure we pay our debts and protect working families who are already struggling. - 05/19/2023.

(1,309 posts)and Biden doesn't invoke the 14th Amendment, the country is properly fucked then, also.
At least by invoking the 14th Amendment, Biden can say that he truly did try everything (short of giving away the store).

(258,834 posts)Unlike the Democrats, the Republicans have no platform - unless you count "owning the libs." If we default, every citizen will lose.

(258,834 posts)It would devastate the country and have a big effect on the world economy. And this is all on McCarthy and the Republicans who would like nothing better - so they could blame the devastating effect on Biden and the Democrats. So much for working for this country...

(258,834 posts)We no longer need a citizens' "militia" as we did when fighting for freedom during the Revolution. We now have several branches of a U.S. military - and they are issued guns (which they are trained to use) for use when fighting in a war zone... The U.S. military is the modern day version of a "militia."
