(255,261 posts)Not to mention, as I said above, since Reality Winner served 4 years for stealing/copying 1 classified document, what TFG did was many times worse - stealing 300 and those which could threaten national security - the comparable sentence for him would be 1200 years...

(17,757 posts)If one member of the jury is a Trump-thumper there will be no conviction. If Democrats don't maintain power there will be a pardon.
The odds of a trial concluding before the election is slim to none. If there is not one Trumper on the 12 member panel, it would mean that the jury did not line up with the demographics of the rest of the nation. The odds of a Republican President pardoning Trump is almost 100%.
The cocky bastard, and his loyal followers, know all of this and believe that he will ride it out. They may be right and that is why he still has boot-lickers in the Congress.
I like listening to good news as much as the next fellow, but the story did not present a slam-dunk by any stretch of the imagination.

(28,469 posts)Not Even the President Can Declassify Nuclear Secrets
WASHINGTON, June 18 (Reuters) - Even when he was president, Donald Trump lacked the legal authority to declassify a U.S. nuclear weapons-related document that he is charged with illegally possessing, security experts said, contrary to the former U.S. presidents claim.
The secret document, listed as No. 19 in the indictment charging Trump with endangering national security, can under the Atomic Energy Act only be declassified through a process that by the statute involves the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense."
