(255,525 posts)Meanwhile, the Manhattan case is far from over - and E. Jean Carroll has decided to file additional charges. Also, we know that Jack Smith is far from done, he has the matter of attempting to overthrow the government on January 6th to move forward on as well. And we've been told that these could involve even more serious charges...

(9,056 posts)date and his reasoning shows that from a purely pursuing the prosecution at trial he is ready to go with witnesses and strategy and just needs the time to be careful about security clearances for all involved who will get to see any classified matters. I think a short way into his work he had a pretty good framework of what happened and then he has been constructing the case as the witnesses testified and texts/phone records/e-mails came rolling in. He was smart not to just compile a bunch of testimony etc. and then sort it out at the end but rather to build the factual progression and legal case as he went along. I had reservations about it all at various times but have been more than happy to admit those reservations weren't needed.

(255,525 posts)As was said, TFG's attorneys may try to put this off further and have yet to obtain the necessary security clearances. But Jack Smith is far from done, this is the results of only half of his investigations and, unbelievably, the results of the January 6th investigation are even more serious. Given that his previous experience is prosecuting war criminals, I have no doubt that he's got all his ducks in a row already. And so it looks like Fani Willis may go first with the election interference case, not to mention the case in Manhattan and E. Jean Carroll has decided to fie additional charges - so it's not like TFG and his attorneys will remain idle this summer.

(9,056 posts)abut the J6 investigation. The whole framework and making it all work together logistically and nationwide is something that couldn't be thought up on the spur of the moment. I believe the planning and framework were hatched and coordination began back well before 2020 even. Someone with a lot of political savvy about how to foment certain groups, provide transportation and covert funding and to do media coordination would be necessary. This was way too coordinated to just be done on the fly and just hope people got together etc. What I'm getting at is someone like Bannon or Flynn may have been doing planning and getting direction and assistance from a foreign source. I don't know if Stone is that tactical as I've always thought of him as a provocateur and dirty tricks/simple levels sort. The ones who planned this really knew how to put it all together, monitor it and keep it moving to conclusion. I really don't think his brain can come up with all that. Foreign intelligence services know very well how to do these kinds of things in order to foment and enact precisely what we saw on J6.

(255,525 posts)And you're perfectly right, TFG definitely needed help and we know he expects and gets help from his enablers - Michael Cohen used to be the one he depended on until he went to prison for being TFG's "fixer." But those willing to do his bidding are getting tough to find, he's had a hard time finding attorneys now.

(255,525 posts)But the problem is that the attorneys need to obtain security clearances because of the classified nature of the documents - which so far they have made no effort to get.
