(55,180 posts)The failure of higher ed to control the cost of education is not students' fault. It was predictable once loans were readily available. So some debt forgiveness is warranted. Joe Biden gets it right, again!
There is also the well being of working people who for whatever reason, never go to college, or drop out. They have financial stresses too, and are neither wise nor liquid enough to engage top shelf financial advice. They deserve some relief in their lives as well.
I hope Dems don't become a party dedicated to educated elites. It would mean abandoning red working class counties to Republicans. I always thought we lifted all boats. That's what I heard about the Great Depression and FDR. I thought workers were Democrats. Imagine my surprise when MAGA revealed otherwise.

(17,161 posts)While the colleges, fueled by easy loan availability, that were responsible for raising the costs of a college education, are sticking taxpayers with the bill.
Need to find ways to reduce the costs, instead of continuing letting them charge whatever they want and making others pay.
