But no matter what insane gobbledygook came out of his pie hole, his deluded "supporters" would still cheer all the same...

Not that his BS will make a difference to the deluded, but it would reveal his ignorance to those who are paying attention as well as more of his ridiculous lies.

that enough independent voters have seen this familiar atrocity and won't go for it again. Early polls are more about the media need to create the horse race. But having said that it is troubling that all of the things we are saying now about his behavior and statements are things we've been saying since even before 2016 and yet such a large portion of the population seems not to care for all manner of reasons. So the hope also has to be that Democrats get more media focus on the Biden accomplishments in order to try and stop having 90% of the media time constantly discussing his opponents and critics. I hear comments from people all the time like "Biden hasn't done anything" or "Biden raised prices" and other such nonsense.

By the way it is good to see your posts again and I always find them useful and thoughtful.

11. I posted the other day that a majority hope for a trial before election season

And I realize that the deluded who continue to support TFG no matter how much he threatens democracy and spreads ridiculous lies, but a guilty verdict on any of the numerous counts he's facing could peel off even some of the deluded - and he's not only facing two separate investigations from Jack Smith, but Fani Willis is expecting to charge him for election interference in August, Letitia James is moving forward on his illegal business practices, his Manhattan "hush money payments" trial is upcoming and E. Jean Carroll is planning to sue again for defamation. When will he have time to "run" for anything??

And thanks!

it becomes too much and drags him down although he thrives on chaos and feeds on it. I know that Kemp and the Georgia GQP are going to try to interfere with Fani Willis but we'll see if they are successful. We will see if the independents in Georgia look at it like a campaign finance violation or for the extremely serious offense it actually is. The investigators keep getting more testimony from the inner circle and lawyers and that cannot be good for him although I'm sure the testimony may have been less than completely truthful or forthcoming. Playing games during testifying may bring some indictments for some of those players as well.

The long shot game for some of these people is to hope for a GQP win in 2024 and a pardon or dragging it out and hoping for the same in 2028. The smart thing to do would be to flip and get immunity but I think the time for that has closed for some of these players and Smith may be more interested in continuing to find evidence to nail them as opposed to needing them to nail the big rotted fish. It is likely impossible that Stone, for example, isn't on the indictment radar since he appears to have been up to his neck in J 6. I think it is also dawning on the ones facing disbarment, felony prosecutions etc. that this is not some political game but is actually going to be a serious matter for them going forward in their lives. I'm hoping Smith or Garland goes after the fake electors in all of those states also.

13. With all the indictments - and subsequent trials - he's facing, how would he manage to "campaign?"
Mon Jul 10, 2023, 03:40 AM

I think that's what the majority who are hoping for early trials are referring to. We can hope that he's out of circulation and we already know that numerous other Republican candidates have finally sprung up. And, according to what's been speculated, TFG, despite all his legal issues, not to mention his authoritarian and anti-democratic plans for this country, still leads declared Republican candidates.

And it's beyond my comprehension that any citizen, Republican or not, would approve of the dictatorship that TFG apparently envisions. But you may be right, that they hope for pardons, and we know that TFG has often declared that he'd "pardon himself."

However, as Jack Smith's investigation gets closer, we have seen many more Republicans cooperate. We know that he has spent considerable time with Meadows and Pence and that Rudy is trying for a deal in exchange for immunity. And the closer that Smith gets, there may be others who figure that TFG is going down and that cooperation with Jack Smith is their only chance.

campaign strategy for the primary at least is to just do the occasional rally. As the trials go along I could envision a strategy where he does rallies on the weekends screaming about what testimony happened in court that week. It would no doubt fuel the faithful but I think the independents would be more turned off by the constant obvious show and whining. If I were doing his polling strategy I would be focused like a laser on how it all is playing with the independents. I believe the GQP will wholeheartedly vote for him if he is the candidate. They'll deny it all the way to "pulling the lever" and then vote for him. I have absolutely no faith in the GQP whether it's the rabid base or what's left of the "mainstream" ones.

I believe he plans on converting every dime of that PAC money into his pockets if he can by hook and by crook. I don't believe he cares about campaign finance violations etc. He'll make the trade to convert hundreds of millions and pay hundreds of thousands in fines.

15. I can envision your campaign scenario playing out, but what happened if/when he's convicted?
Mon Jul 10, 2023, 04:22 AM
Jul 2023

There was already footage released from his 2016 campaign of him ranting that if Hillary Clinton was indicted, that should disqualify her from running. And I realize that being a hypocrite is only one of his numerous flaws, but he's already been indicted in more than one case, so far, and convicted in the E. Jean Carroll case. As you said, he might find a way to hold "rallies" in between court appearances, and I can well imagine his attacks on judges and prosecutors in those campaign events, but Jack Smith is far from done and after the trial related to his theft of classified documents/espionage, he has to face the most serious charges related to attempting to overturn the 2020 election results. Could a presidential candidate qualify from jail??
