I remember during the Bush Jr. presidency, China was not allowing the American public to complain about Chinese dog food killing our dogs, or actually, complain about much of anything. 5. Use to be, but Chinese labor isn't relatively cheap anymore.

The old math was ultra low Chinese labor costs more than offset ocean freight. That's not necessarily the case anymore. Production is going to lower cost countries or coming home as Chinese manufacturing makes less and less economic sense. Chinese wages will continue to rise from the aftermath of the 1 child policy. Hard to believe, but China Inc. is beginning to see a shortage of workers.

6. The unemployment rate among the youth in China is over 20%

and the government is urging people with college degrees to return back to rural areas to work in agriculture. The retirement age for men is 60 and for women it is 50-55. With that many able-bodied individuals who are unemployed, it would be a stretch to say that China has a shortage of workers. If there is a shortage of workers it would be in specific niche trades.
