Ron DeSantis and the Florida Board of Education are trying to put a positive spin on slavery.
I mean, was it really that bad? (Spoiler alert: yes it was.)
DeSantis and his educational experts found time (amid a full schedule of book-banning and decreeing who can use what bathroom) to rework the states African American studies curriculum so it was a little more chipper.
The revised curriculum points out that, slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.
Hey, it was just a jobs program, right?
And here we all thought DeSantis was the smart candidate.

of thousands that are just fine!??
Read it and then post your outrage
you might not have any.
General rule is dont start foaming at the mouth until youve digested all the information, unless 216 pages of bullet form discussion topics is too much
.then ok, go foam at the mouth!
To me this has all been a massive distraction, similar to a spy balloon with no transmitters, while fascism proper moves quietly ahead.

Lot of stuff in there most Americans not aware of, entire document surrounding the one line of revised not so good is very good
one line does zero damage to history as accurately outlined in the other hundreds of lines of historically accurate and factual points to discuss. Thats a fact.

(7,839 posts)liberals used to love until the Social Media Outrage Machine swamped logic and made instant outrage with no context all the rage.
So few learned so little last few years when the lesson is in your face
Do Your Own Research, Avoid Instant Soup! Wait on full info
.or plunge into the abyss.
Yes, no need to put that ..slaves learned marketable skills
that wasnt put there to change the overall instructions, it was put there to press the Outrage Button! Worked very well!!
Instant soup isnt as profitable as instant outrage, for corporations or opportunistic politicians.
Biophilic
(6,551 posts)and not for the better. I am personally afraid that if we don't create enough outrage to get lots of people to vote we just might lose the next election. I've gradually come to understand that most people don't vote from their brains but from their "hearts", such as they are. Emotions drive us, now, it seems more than ever. We Democrats are late getting into and using the instant outrage buttons that the republicans seem very good at. And, yes, it's a very slippery slop.
