TFG would have called him a lot of things, but "honest" would not be in his vocabulary, especially under these circumstances.

I think Pence was ready to play along with the whole things, but when the Secret Service were ready to whisk him away, he had a brief moment of clarity about the whole harebrained idea and realized he didn't want to spend time in prison and chickened out.

Remember, Pence had spent 4 years in or near the Oval Office, watching Russian oligarchs and operatives alike making themselves at home there. Given that, there is no way Pence would have objected to anything before the fact.

I'll describe Pence in Christian terms: he's a whited sepulchre.

Also, like Lewis Black, I think what will eventually send TFG to jail years from now will be his taxes. That's what they use to nail all the mobsters.
