(44,738 posts)Its UNPRECEDENTED. its never happened before to a President. Ergo, conservative logic, follow me, it can never happen for the first time. Except if its Joe Biden. The first time YOU had sex was unprecedented, so how the hell did YOU allow it to happen a first time?
Reading the disqualification clause sounds to me like it would apply to everyone who voted to not certify. We should follow the constitution right?

(9,354 posts)and his name was Couy Griffin. He was disqualified from any b=public office He had been convicted of participating in the insurrection. He did not want to run for President. But the Fourteenth applies to any Federal offoci, any state office, or any office And that's roughly the way is worded, with "orany office" bringing up the rear. So that goes all the way down - and would also apply to appointees, I would think. Cabinet members, committee members, and the like. School boards.
I'm in Colorado, and my SoS already applied it to Tina Peters (was a county clerk, announed intention to run for Congress. Now she won't.) I have every confidence that upon a conviction for insurrection, she'll disqualify Trump** without waiting for appeals, And there might be other convictions which would prompt it. But even without that, I suspect she may disqualify him Just not today.

(9,354 posts)and that is that you actually don't have to be 35 to run. You have to become 35 by Inauguration Day. So you could be 34, and if you started early enough, you could even be 33.

(44,738 posts)Go ahead, try to explain that to Lauren Bobert.

(949 posts)Did I miss anything? None of the current charges include insurrection nor sedition. Also nobody so far have been convicted of insurrection. If ultimately the 14th Amendment is applied, the final decision will be the Supreme Court's.
