Their propaganda has so misinformed people that they are defending what Ryan said.

(53,997 posts)What a dumbass. He surely knows that "federal per capita benefits" statistics include things like how much value you, as a driver, get for highway building expenditures, or what is your portion of the total cost of the federal job training program you get from your local community college (and LOTS of community college classes are funded by federal grants). It would also include the per-student benefit of common Dept of Education Title 1 grants. Frankly, I'm surprised that the figure is as low as 60%.
Remember Mark Twain's line about lies, damned lies, and statistics. Ryan wasn't even high lighting the inequality in our economy with his little numbers came. He was simply torturing the meaning of fairly banal statistics to make it seem like the country's falling apart, which it's not.
Before you get on your high horse, though, remember that it's the same game we play when we point out that New Jersey pays per more capita in taxes than Arkansas, so Arkansas is a "taker" state.

And the yapping poodles of the Fourth Estate wonder why Taker Ryan was booed? Hard working American workers can recognize an entitlement baby when they see one.
