(53,395 posts)Acetone isn't nearly as toxic to the central nervous system as MEK is.
But if I had the choice, I'd much rather have a can of naphtha. I have uses for it.

(10,478 posts)a couple years ago and if you smell it you will be right back in your Charlie phase, but then you realize you can't go around smelling like the '70's. There's something about that perfume that is unbelievably compelling. I actually thought of buying a bottle to just smell in the privacy of my room.

(32,354 posts)After that, English Leather. And now: nothing beyond a warm shower in the morning and an effective deodorant. That's what doing business in countries where men utilize scents in the place of personal cleanliness will teach you.

(34,852 posts)The claim was that it was a pheromone that made you irresistible.
Everyone wore it, but it didn't smell very good. No matter how much I wore, I just never developed "animal magnetism".
I also had patchouli phase.

(9,083 posts)These days, I tend to favor original Polo.

Although it would remind me of my uncle. He used it and didn't overdo it. My grandfather used English Leather, also only to the degree that it was enjoyable.

(24,852 posts)Hated the smell and never used it, but family members would peek a look at my dresser and believe I liked it, so it became the birthday/Xmas etc present of choice/ease. Once I had amassed 4 bottles of the crap I decided it was time to trash the lot and let the family know that my taste had changed.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
