(27,834 posts)Sorry about the Auntie, though. I have a couple of cousins that I'm separated from, thankfully by miles, because of their ideology. I have neither the time or the patience for dealing with the mindset of a trumpelthinskin.

(16,411 posts)She said that Obama and Hillary are going down? Down where?
Forgive my lame attempt at humor. On a serious note, it's too bad you had to deal with that nonsense today. You don't have to put up with that in your own home. Maybe it's just as well that she left.

(10,180 posts)your story is similar to MANY of your fellow DU'ers! Fortunately, I'm not one of them as my entire family (including cousins) are a bunch of "bleeding heart Liberals" (thank God).

(3,424 posts)So many people don't know that most of the rules and benefits that workers take for granted now exist because of unions fighting for them.

(13,913 posts)i know how you feel re: your aunt. I have a brother in law who proclaims himself as a republican but doesn't quite understand the issues, and is only republican because his parents are. I don't talk to him when we have family gatherings and for the most part ignore the loud mouthed idiot. Sometimes the truth hurts but you have to break it to them.

(8,999 posts)but the relatives that would have said something like your Aunt in my family would have been my brother and sister. We don't speak anymore. We really haven't spoken since 2012 when Obama was re-elected.
happy holidays.

(16,952 posts)You may always take comfort here. Most of us have at least one of those relatives. Did your aunt honestly think you'd agree with her? LOL. I'm sure you had a better time w/o her.

(6,262 posts)or friends who surprise and disappoint us with their heretofore undisclosed beliefs, or family who decide to make family gatherings a platform for divisive and excited utterances that are contrary to logic and human decency.
Take comfort and wallow in sanity here.

(6,913 posts)Its 5 years after the crime was committed for many crimes, whether or not it was noticed at the time. Hillarys time has probably run out. She left government service more than 5 years ago.
