(17,466 posts)I've lost maybe 11 pounds since I have started trying, about 3 months ago. It comes off very slowly, but I figure that slower is better. 100 pounds sounds impossible, but many many people have done it, and some people have lost much more.
Take it slow and easy...you can do it!

(35,453 posts)1. Take the amount weight that you want to lose and divide it by 2.
2. In your case, that would be 50 or 50 10-day intervals.
3. Your goal should be to lose 2 pounds every 10 days over 50 10-day intervals.
4. Some intervals, you will lose more for some, you may lose less.
Keeping you goals simple, short, and easily attained works for me.

(34,139 posts)or really since I was discharged from the hospital Dec 3.
I gained back two pounds with Christmas dinner, but hopefully should lose it again. I'm supposed to start physical therapy after the first of the year and that will help get more pounds off so long as I keep my intake low.
My plan is to lose at least forty more pounds in 218 but at this rate I might do even better.

(34,139 posts)It was easy the first few weeks out of the hospital - I had to learn to eat again anyway.
Christmas was hard - I've been on a plateau for a week since I started baking for the holidays. Can't bake without testing!
Now I just need to get back to my limited diet and start exercising now that I've healed.

(29,728 posts)Did you have a surgery?

(34,139 posts)Aortic valve replacement late October, then kidney removal and hernia repair Nov 29.
The first was a non-invasive procedure, the second kicked my butt. But things are getting better!

(29,728 posts)that does sound brutal...kidney removal!!!!!
I just got a new hip and I am literally dancing around! I can't believe the difference in my life...it feels like about 20 years have melted away.
But YOU get well soon!

(34,139 posts)I got both knees replaced in 2012 and thought I was done with surgeries. I've only had four surgeries since.
Good to know that your hip replacement is going great. Isn't it great to be able to move without pain?

(35,775 posts)especially knees. I read this at the Arthritis Foundation web site:
Every pound of excess weight exerts about 4 pounds of extra pressure on the knees. So a person who is 10 pounds overweight has 40 pounds of extra pressure on his knees; if a person is 100 pounds overweight, that is 400 pounds of extra pressure on his knees.
