Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsWhat is your new year eve plans Im kissing the dogs then the wife at midnight
Were staying in not even walking to pub. I gave up booze thats besides the point. The boys will be making pine apple meatballs and pepperoni cheese bread and a tomato dipping sauce probably out of a jar. these two guys love to cook and bake. Im gonna try and make a huge pot of lobster bisque I got a recepie off a very nice lady from my cycling class under the wifes guidance. And a dad pot of chili mild not wild. And wife she is gonna teach us how to bake homemade bread. Oh and pigs in a blanket oh and the wifes chocolate cake. And dads mushed macaroni and cheese, I made it by mistake once. I was simmering the noodles and they got mushy. So I added velveeta and baked em for half hour and we have half assed mush macaroni and cheese casserole.
New Years Eve is a grab and growl kind of day around here. Watching college football and kicking back well Im off to the store to get the groceries and stopping state store for wife and mother in law they like wine. Wonder if I can get mad dog 20/20 in gallon boxes for them . Let me hear your plans friends enjoy be safe especially if your out.

(22,054 posts)It's quite beautiful to be here during the off-season. Although it's frigidly cold, the ocean and the beach are lovely. The people are wonderful and there aren't any crowds. Lots of great food, though!
Tomorrow night, our friends are going to join us and stay over. We never go out on New Year's Eve; that's for amateurs!
Have a happy and safe evening, TEB!

(17,650 posts)..I live too friggen far from anything to walk...even the drive takes an hr R/T..so we will stay in.. MAYBE go to town early to the wine bar to check out my inventory ( they carry my art work) have a bottle of overpriced wine and expensive appetizers then come home and crawl into bed WAY before midnight.
Cheese bread is Italian seasoning shredded cheese mozzarella and if I remember she covers dough in olive oil adds pepperoni and cheese rolls em up and bake at 350 for like 45 minutes. She is on her way home from upstate ny.

(33,563 posts)We are attending a get together with some old friends - but they want to end it by 10 pm - fine with me.
My oldest son may go to a party among sculptors if his boss invites him as he did last minute, last year - he's an intern.
My youngest son, this being his first year in college, will be going to a party among his high school friends.
If they're both gone, I'll definitely be kissing my wife, gloriously alone with her.

(20,220 posts)I quit going out on NYE a long time ago, but this year we're supposed to have freezing rain so I DEFINITELY won't be going out. I think I'll go to the library today and check out some books and DVDs. I'll make some chili and cornbread, and get black eyed peas to eat on New Years Day.

(20,740 posts)I empty it out every new year's and start the year with an empty bin. That way I know where to look for something if necessary. Get that chore done. I'm bummed I won't be able to watch Kathy Griffin.

(2,155 posts)Makes her mad, apparently she feels it reduces her to the same nameless posession status as "the car" or "the couch".
"She who must be obeyed" is likewise inadmissible.
These waters are sometimes difficult to navigate.
I think I'll go with a suggestion tweeted by the Moon Pie folks: hang a Moon Pie in the room, and when we meet beneath it, I will tell her how much I respect her rights and dignity.

(46,179 posts)Read or watch tv or both until I'm sleepy; go to bed. Wake up. Keep putting one foot in front of the other.
Try to remember to write the date correctly.

(5,183 posts)I get lost in time often.
Well, tomorrow I plan another regular day. PowerWalk with the dog, work on some lingering projects and try to wrap up a few stray agendas. I will take care of the critters around here, try to stay sane and steady, eat well, make a couple of calls and that is it.
I hope to not hear a single firework but thats asking too much, my neighbors love any chance they can to set them off.
I would like to sleep through midnight, but that may not happen.
For those with more elaborate plans, I wish you a safe and pleasant turn of the year.

(38,019 posts)The only exceptions were all those years I was a waitress and had to work. I prefer to stay in where it's nice and quiet.

(20,220 posts)A lot of people who aren't normally big drinkers overindulge on NYE, then get behind the wheel. I had a friend in high school whose dad was killed by a drunk driver on NYE.
Plus, I go out to clubs to enjoy music anyway. Clubs on NYE are just crowded and cost more. No thanks! I don't drive after the Super Bowl either.

(11,928 posts)And plan on checking out the new Shelly Point (weather permitting). Shells galore!
Kissing the wife first, then my dogs. Lol, I'd be in so much trouble if I did it in reverse.

(17,497 posts)Last year I worked an outdoor laser show, providing a mid-sized sound system. It was in the 20s with wind chill in the teens. The wind blew the fog out of the venue, so there were very limited 3-D effects. I spent 12 hours out in the weather for this job and even with thermal underwear and lots of layers I was chilled to the bone. I believe I posted here in the Lounge during that night.
This year instead of that, I'll stay in and approach the new year with no chills, no hangover (a tradition with me since 2000), and lots of rest.
May the new year be prosperous and peaceful for you and yours.

(3,495 posts)we got Ben and Jerry's ice cream for dessert. We only eat ice cream about 2 times a year so it's a real treat for us! We'll snuggle with the beagles on the couch and watch some TV and we'll be in bed well before midnight. Boring old gay married couple!
